Amazon unveiled its next-generation lineup of Echo devices, purpose-built for Alexa+, the company’s newly enhanced AI assistant. The four new models—the Echo Dot Max, Echo Studio, Echo Show 8, and Echo Show 11—introduce major upgrades in performance, sound quality, and intelligence, powered by custom-designed silicon and Amazon’s new Omnisense sensor fusion platform. Together, these advancements mark a significant step toward Amazon’s vision of an ambient, AI-driven smart home experience.
Launched earlier this year, Alexa+ represents a major leap forward for the voice assistant, making it more conversational, personalized, and capable of handling complex tasks. Amazon reports that customers in Early Access are engaging with Alexa more than twice as often as before and relying on her for a wider range of activities, from managing smart home devices to booking reservations and organizing family calendars. To complement this new AI experience, Amazon designed an all-new hardware platform featuring AZ3 and AZ3 Pro chips, built with integrated AI accelerators for faster, more responsive, and context-aware interactions. These chips enable Alexa to process more tasks on the device itself, reducing latency and improving privacy.
At the core of these devices is Omnisense, a multi-sensor technology platform that fuses input from cameras, microphones, Wi-Fi signals, radar, and motion sensors to make Alexa more aware of her surroundings. This allows Alexa to proactively respond to real-world events—for example, starting a bedtime routine when she recognizes a family member or sending an alert if the garage door is left open late at night.
The new Echo Dot Max is Amazon’s most powerful compact speaker yet, offering nearly three times the bass of the Echo Dot (5th Gen) thanks to a redesigned two-way speaker system and an integrated housing that doubles internal air space. Priced at $99.99, it delivers room-filling sound in a compact form factor. The Echo Studio, meanwhile, has been redesigned to be 40% smaller than the original while offering even richer audio through a high-excursion woofer, three full-range drivers, and support for Dolby Atmos and spatial audio. With its new spherical design and 3D-knit acoustic fabric, it will sell for $219.99. Customers can also pair multiple Echo speakers with Fire TV devices through Alexa Home Theater, creating immersive surround sound setups with minimal effort.
Amazon’s new smart displays, the Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11, bring both visual and auditory improvements. Their in-cell touchscreens deliver sharper, more vibrant visuals that adapt to lighting conditions, while upgraded stereo speakers and a custom woofer provide rich, front-facing sound. A 13-megapixel camera enables Alexa to recognize users and present personalized information, from calendars and reminders to entertainment options and smart home controls. The Echo Show 8 will retail for $179.99, while the larger Echo Show 11 will be $219.99.
Beyond hardware, Amazon announced the upcoming Alexa+ Store, a new destination for discovering services, devices, and integrations from brands such as TaskRabbit, Uber, Lyft, GrubHub, and Yahoo Sports. The store will also allow users to manage subscriptions and explore third-party capabilities to further personalize their Alexa experience. In addition, Alexa+ will soon expand beyond Amazon’s ecosystem, with upcoming integrations across Bose, Sonos, LG, Samsung, and BMW products.
All four new Echo devices are available for preorder starting today, each shipping with Alexa+ Early Access built in. With these updates, Amazon is positioning Alexa+ and its new Echo lineup as the most advanced and seamless way to experience AI in the home—more proactive, personal, and ambient than ever before.
