CANVAS HiFi is expanding its home cinema platform with a new solution that combines BACCH 3D front-channel processing with dedicated Dolby Surround and Dolby Atmos channels, offering an immersive cinema experience with a cleaner, more streamlined installation.
The new approach eliminates the need for separate front, centre and subwoofer speakers. Instead, CANVAS HiFi handles the complete front soundstage, while additional active speakers can be integrated for surround, rear and height channels. This allows homeowners to create a full-scale home cinema while maintaining a minimalist setup around the TV.
At the centre of the new system is the Almando InMedio, developed in collaboration with German electronics specialist Almando. The unit manages surround decoding and signal distribution, while expanding connectivity options to support a wider range of wired and wireless configurations, including WiSA.
Designed as an open platform, the solution also allows CANVAS owners to pair the system with compatible active speakers from different manufacturers, offering greater flexibility when designing a surround sound system.
As part of the expansion, CANVAS HiFi has also announced a collaboration with Danish loudspeaker manufacturer System Audio. Selected Silverback active speakers will be adapted to complement the CANVAS design language, featuring matching Kvadrat textiles, colours and wood finishes for a cohesive visual aesthetic across the system.
The new CANVAS HiFi surround solution will make its world premiere at IFA 2026 in Berlin, taking place from September 4–8. Availability is expected to roll out progressively from late 2026.
